6 . Kamal ka Curtain Call

The Year That Was Creativity has been the highlight of 2013 for Kamal. He has conceived two plays, Aaine and Gossips of 47, in a year that he considers to be productive in terms of new thoughts and ideas. “The year 2013 taught me that I do not belong to a race of any sort and that I cannot compromise on quality while concentrating on quantity,” says Kamal. The Year Ahead The expressive actor and director plans to work on famous folktales of India and bring them to a live theatre audience in 2014. Moreover, he plans to create a new concept of theatre management wherein he would offer internships to young minds that are interested in theatre. “Theatre management will focus on teaching interns everything involved with a theatre production,” says Kamal. Life’s emblem A mirror would be the emblem that Kamal relates himself to the most. He considers a mirror to be the most inspiring object to a person in terms of creativity and “a reflection of a person’s soul as well as his other side.” The High The year 2013 saw a masterpiece from Kamal called Aaine. He regards the play’s first performance and its eventual popularity as his highest point in the past year. The low The first performance of Gossips of 47, is what Kamal regards as his lowest point in 2013. “Exhaustion and no time to practice led to the disastrous performance,” he says. — as told to Arka Sengupta https://www.deccanchronicle.com/131231/lifestyle-booksart/article/kamal-ka-curtain-call
